Accused impersonating as a journalist threatens to file an atrocity case against a builder and demands extortion, arrested by the Pune Police

PUNE: The Pune Police has arrested a person posing as a journalist and threatening to file an atrocity case against a builder by demanding an extortion of ₹2 lakh from the buildee 


The accused impersonator journalist has been identified as Vijay Mahadev Gaikwad. A complaint in this matter has been filed by one 

Jayant Shinde (40), a resident of Gultekdi. 


According to police information, Gaikwad had pretended to be a journalist and so Shinde had given him a piece of land on rent. However Gaikwad had not paid the rent for some months. When Shinde asked about the lein, Gaikwad turned the table on him and insisted that instead, he [Shinde] should pay him ₹2 lakhs or else a case of atrocity would be filed against the latter.  


A team comprising of Senior Police Inspector Ashok Indalkar, Crime Branch Inspector Somnath Jadhav and Assistant Police Inspector Prashant Shinde took this action.
