MUMBAI: MSRTC (Maharashtra State Road Transport Corporation) has announced that senior citizens can travel free by ST buses (state-run buses). The announcement of this particular decision was made by Chief Minister Eknath Shinde and Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis in the assembly.
Chief Minister Eknath Shinde took to twitter to make an official announcement about scheme. On the occasion of the Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav celebrations, this special scheme was announced and around 1.5 lakhs of state senior citizens will benefit from it. Certificates of free travel scheme were distributed to people above 75 years by ST.
MSRTC added, "Those eligible for the scheme will get a fare refund of money if they have booked a ticket before August 26." This facility can be availed by showing one's ID such as Voter ID, PAN card, Aadhar card, driving licence.
However, MSRTC clarified that this particular scheme is not applicable to buses plying within the city limits and that it is applicable only to MSRTC buses within state limits.
