Noida's SuperTech Twin Towers demolition by controlled implosion; Nine year legal battle ends in demolition

NOIDA: Noida's Sector-93A towers also known as the SuperTech Twin Towers have been destroyed. The towers stand at a height of 100m which is taller than the Qutub Minar (73m) were destroyed in just 10-12 seconds. About 3700 kg of explosives were used in about 9640 holes. Police, NDRF, ambulance, fire brigade teams were present at the spot. Water tankers are available and water is being sprayed from them to prevent air pollution. Anti smog guns have also been installed.

Close to 500 police and traffic personnel were deployed around Supertech’s twin towers in Noida, ahead of the demolition. The Noida-Greater Noida Expressway remained shut between 2.15 pm and 2.45 pm, while a no-fly zone was instated over the city for drones.

The towers — Ceyane (29 floors) and Apex (32 floors) — were part of the Emerald Court project of Supertech Ltd and were found to be in violation of multiple regulations regarding construction. They were demolished via a ‘controlled implosion’ to ensure minimal damage to the surroundings. Minutes after the demolition, the nearby buildings appeared to be safe. A detailed safety audit is expected later. The air quality and visibility in the area is extremely low.
