PUNE: It is a cause for concern for Puneites as cases of Dengue have spiked in the city of Pune. Intermittent rains, on-going construction works peppered across the city, open, burst-to-full and most often overflowing garbage dumps have resulted in breeding grounds for mosquitoes.
Now the civic authorities are monitoring localities closely where the maximum number of Dengue cases are being reported.
As per sources, Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) has detected approximately 2,423 suspected cases of Dengue, this year. the maximum number of cases were reported in the Hadapsar-Mundwa ward followed by Vadgaon Sheri and lastly, Aundh- Baner. Kothrud, Warje-Karve Nagar areas also reported a spike in dengue cases.
According to civic officials, damp places, construction sites where water is stored for a long period, landfills these are tt factors responsible for a spike in Dengue cases. As the surge is been reported in cases, PMC has issued a notice to public and private buildings to take preventative measures against Dengue.
This year, PMC has collected 1.49 lakhs as administrative fees for those who helped in facilitating mosquito breeding.
