BARAMATI: The political atmosphere is hotting up in the state after the controversial statement of the Leader of Opposition, Ajit Pawar, that Chhatrapati Sambhaji Maharaj was not a dharmaveer (protector of religion). The Sambhaji Brigade protested against Pawar’s statement on Sunday. Many organisations are also staging protests against Ajit Pawar. Activists of BJP’s Yuva Morcha staged an agitation outside the residence of Ajit Pawar in Baramati.
Slogans were raised against Ajit Pawar. The activists also burnt an effigy of Ajit Pawar. Ajit Pawar, while speaking in the Legislative Assembly, had said that Chhatrpati Sambhaji Maharaj was not a dharmaveer but a swarajya rakshak (defender of self governance or self-rule). Reactions to hi statement are being reported from various areas. The activists of BJP’s Youth Morcha gathered outside Ajit Pawar’s residence Sahyog on Monday morning. They raised slogans against Pawar and burnt his effigy. The police have started apprehending the protesters and said they will register FIRs against them.
