PUNE: A rather innovative cyber crime has been reported wherein in order to decline a credit card of IDFC Bank, a fraud of approximately ₹3.92 lakhs was perpetrated by asking for an OTP from a customer and using it to buy six iPhones. An FIR case has been registered in this matter at Dattawadi Police Station. This cyber crime took place between September 2021 and October 2021.
The female accused against whom the complaint has been registered has been identified as Pratishka Avinash Choure, a resident of Tilak Residency, Bhosari. One Sangeeta Hanumant Gaikwad (46), a resident of Parvati has filed a complaint in this matter.
According to police information, apparently, Pratiksha Choure called Gaikwad. She told her that her IDFC Bank credit card had been declined. Then, Choure allegedly asked Gaikwad for the OTP that the latter had received, she used it to withdraw approximately ₹2.71 lakhs from her bank account from time to time. Choure also bought herself four iPhones through it.
Then she bought two more iPhones in Gaikwad's name using the documents taken from Akshay, the latter's friend. An approximate sum of ₹3.92 lakhs was misappropriated and fraud was committed.
