Administration shuts down the Mumbai via Malshej Gha route starting Thursday, May 19 for the next foreseeable Thursdays, commuters urged to take alternative routes


PUNE: Malshej Ghat is the nearest route for citizens of Mumbai or citizens passing through Pune, Ahmednagar.  Therefore, many travelers come and go from Malshej Ghat.  But now this is important news for citizens going to Mumbai via Kalyan Malshej. Starting from Thursday, May 19 for the next foreseeable between 6am and 6pm, this route will be closed to carry out the road work. Considering explosives will be used to break the stones, there will also be a change in traffic.


On the National Highway 61, currently, the work of double concretising of the stretch of road between  84,000 kms and 101,000kms is ongoing in full swing and the work on the length of road between 18.600 and 100.280 kms in Pune district is in progress. Therefore, this route will be closed every Thursday of the week. However, alternative transport arrangements have also been made during this shutdown.


The alternative routes to be adopted are as follows:

Kalyan - Malshej Ghat Khubi Karanjale Khireshwar to Kolhewadi - Sagnori to Pimpalgaon Joga to Bhoirwadi to Kolwadi.  Otur - Alephata - Ahmednagar will be like this.  


Moreover, heavy vehicles will be banned on the alternative route.  It has been reported by the police administration that the same arrangements will be in place until further notice.


Malshej Ghat is the nearest route for citizens of Nagar, Nasik, and Pune. The road works have been initiated on this route before the monsoons and they will be completed after the onset of monsoons.  Since this is an initiative of the administration, it has therefore, provided this option as a precautionary measure.  In the interim, citizens have been urged to use the alternative route while travelling to Mumbai.
