PUNE: An incident of sexual abuse has cone to light wherein a 17-year-old girl has alleged that she was sexually abused by her father and stepmother for the past five years in Yerawada.The father has been arrested by Yerawada police in this matter.

According to the police information, the girl's father tried to keep her away from her Class XII examinations. After which, the victim of sexual abuse moved to her friend's house and told her friend about what was going on at home. The friend advised her to file a complaint with the police. On Sunday, she filed a complaint. The complaint also states that the man's second wife supported him by turning a blind eye to his evil deeds. 

According to the police, a few days ago, as the victim was prepping for her board exams, her father allegedly entered her bedroom and berated her for studying. He told her to concentrate on her household chores, instead. When she begged him to let her study for her examinations, he, purportedly tore up her HSC Hall Ticket. Naturally, the young girl was very distressed due to this incident and moved to her friend's house and narrated the incident. Her friend told her that she can still take the exam as she had a photocopy of the Hall Ticket. The victim then disclosed her ordeal. The complaint also states that the victim's mother had separated from her father when she was five years old. Her father later remarried.

The accused father has been arrested under Section 354 of the IPC and relevant sections of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act.  The information has been given by the police.
