PUNE: An incident of online fraud has come to the fore wherein cyber thieves managed to siphon off  ₹7.69 lakhs online by asking victims to download an app called Any Desk to generate their credit card PINs. The Sahakar Nagar Police have registered an FIR in this matter. This incident took place online between 23 December 23, 2022 and December 24, 2022. One Satish Eknath Pote, a resident of Sahakar Nagar has filed a complaint in this matter. 

According to police information, the cyber thieves called Pote and asked him to generate the credit card PIN. And in order to do so, they made him download an app called 'Any Desk'. 

Through this app, after obtaining pertinent information about Pote's bank account, the accused managed to withdraw a total of ₹7.69 lakhs online and thus committed financial fraud. A complaint was filed with the police in this matter. 

The police have registered an FIR after a thorough investigation.
