Deadly business, this! Social Security Cell of the Pune Crime Branch busts gang of four filling illegal LPG in empty cylinders on the black market in Pune, Sinhagad Road Police registers an FIR under the Essential Commodities Act

PUNE: There have been many instances of explosions while filling illegal LPG in empty cylinders. Fortunately, the gang operating this deadly business has been caught by the Social Security Cell of the Pune Crime Branch.  Four persons who were selling illegal LPG in empty gas cylinders on the black market have been arrested by a team of the Social Security Cell. Approximately, 114 gas cylinders, pipes, regulators, tempo to the tune of ₹17.22 lakhs were seized from the accused.


The arrested accused have been identified as Rafiq Sultan Sheikh (38), Saddam Aziz Sheikh (29), Jamir Sultan Sheikh (36), a resident of Tukai Nagar, Vadgaon Budruk, and Devisingh Ramsingh Rajput (36), a resident of Bibwewadi. An FIR under the Essential Commodities Act has been registered against the accused at the Sinhagad Road Police Station. Police Constable Sandeep Kolge of the Social Security Cell of the Pune Crime Branch has filed a complaint in this matter.  


According to the police information, in Mangal Ridhe's room at Tukai Nagar in the Budruk area of ​Vadgaon, gas was being taken out from gas cylinder tanks and re-filled in the empty tanks through a pipe. The Social Security Cell received intel about this racket.  After confirming that indeed, a bogus gas cylinder racket was operations, a police team of the Social Security Cell raided the location and arrested the accused.
