Employee dupes Hyundai showroom into crores of rupees by mutually selling 46 cars to private individuals

PUNE: An incident has come to light wherein an employee working at a Hyundai showroom in Katraj allegedly committed a financial fraud of crores of rupees by mutually selling 46 cars to private individuals on the basis of fake gate passes. Along with this, two fake checks in the name of CSD Depot, Khadki, have been prepared, and by pretending they are real.

The accused has been identified as Sai Praveen Nanjundappa, a resident of Dhayri. Mohan Babanrao Trimbake (46), a resident of Ambegaon Budruk, has filed a complaint in this regard. This incident took place between May 13, 2019 and December 17, 2022 at Hyundai Motors LLP, adjacent to Poddar International School, Katraj Bypass, Ambegaon.

As per the information provided by the police, the accused, Sai Nandandappa, was working in a showroom of Hyundai Motors. He pretended to have received a huge order from 46 customers working in the Indian defence department.

He misused the authority given by the company and created gate passes to release the customer's vehicle from the company. He signed it himself and took out 46 cars from the company. These cars were mutually sold to private individuals. The money that came from it was used for his own benefit without being deposited in the company. Accordingly, he duped the company into creating two fake checks in the name of the Regional Manager, CSD Depot, Khadki, pretending that they were real. A further, in-depth investigation is being carried out by woman police sub-inspector Varsha Ghogare.
