PUNE: It has come to light that the work of preparing the Detailed Project Report (DPR) of the Pune-Nasik Green Corridor Highway has begun, for which a consulting firm was appointed by the Maharashtra State Road Development Corporation (MSRDC). According to DCN sources, this corridor will be completely different from the Pune-Nasik high-speed rail line.
For the unversed, Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis had directed MSRDC to prepare a technical and financial feasibility report for this. Keeping in mind the Pune-Green Corridor road, MSRDC had started the tender process to appoint a consultant and brought it to the final stage. Thereupon, simultaneously, the work began on two levels, that is, railway and industrial routes. Due to which, myriad queries came to the fore about the railway line and green corridor location. However, MSRDC has appointed an independent consultancy firm to prepare the DPR for Pune-Nasik Green Corridor Highway. They, in turn, have begun the work of preparing a DPR.
For the unversed, the project is essential on a number of levels. For starters, this highway is proposed to promote the fact that Pune is an information technology, industrial and cultural city. Secondly, Nasik is a market for agricultural goods. Thirdly, a large number of IT companies are established in Nasik city. Fourthly, both these cities have networks of small, medium, and heavy industry factories and agricultural institutions.
