Mumbai teen survives violent rape bid by FB friend, cops nab perpetrator from Gujarat
MUMBAI: A spine-chilling incident has come to light wherein an 18-year-old city collegian suffered multiple punches on the face and skull fractures and was left for dead in a sexual assault bid by a youth, whom she had befriended online.
The arrested accused has been identified as Deepak Malakar (26), a resident of Bihar.
According to the police information, a transaction at an ATM kiosk in Surat helped Versova police track down the accused who claims to be a film editor and casting director and arrested him on Monday, three days after he fled from Mumbai after the August 11 incident.
In the meanwhile, the teenager is recuperating in hospital, after a two-day stay in the ICU.
