Parliamentary Committee assures cooperation to help revive Hindustan Antibiotics Limited (HAL)

Pimpri: The Central Standing Committee has assured that all necessary measures will be taken for the revival of Hindustan Antibiotics Limited (HAL) in Pimpri. The members of the Parliamentary Committee on chemicals and fertilizers under the Central Standing Committee visited Hindustan Antibiotics Limited (HAL). The committee members were apprised of the difficulties being faced by the company. Kanimozhi Karunanidhi, Chairman, Standing Committee, Chemicals and Fertilizers, MP Deepak Baij, Prataprao Patil Chikhlikar, Kripanath Mallah, Prabhubhai Vasava, Satyadev Pachauri, Arun Kumar Sagar, Ayodhya Rami Reddy Alla, Jaiprakash Nishad, Vijay Pal Singh Tomar along with HK Hajong, Economic Advisor, and other senior officials from the Pharmaceuticals Department as well as the Lok Sabha Secretariat were present during the visit. The Parliamentary Committee visited the Hindustan Antibiotics Factory at Pimpri. The committee members were briefed about the available production facilities, product information as well as the future plan of the company was presented by HAL officials.  The committee assured that the difficulties faced by the company would be considered positively by the parliamentary committee and necessary measures would be proposed for the revival of HAL.  Hindustan Antibiotics is a subsidiary of the Central Government and mainly produces Penicillin. The company has been in financial trouble for the past few years. The company does not have the money to pay other debts in addition to the salaries of company employees and the pension of the retired employees. Therefore, a proposal to raise money by selling the company's premises is under consideration. However, no decision in this matter has been taken as yet.
