PUNE: The campaigning in the Kasba Peth by-election, Chinchwad Assembly 2023 has reached its final stage. For this by-election, a major tussle is taking place between Ravindra Dhangekar of Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA) and Hemant Rasane of BJP. This time round, the MNS did not field its candidate in this by-election. MNS has supported the BJP in Kasba by-election after the MNS President Raj Thackeray cracked the whip. However, despite this, some of the MNS activists have been campaigning for the MVA candidate Ravindra Dhangekar for the past few days. Against this backdrop, the MNS has now expelled these activists from the party.
The expelled activists who were found guilty of campaigning for the MVA candidate in Kasba Assembly by-election have been identified as Ravindra Khedekar, Sagar Pangare, Gopi Ghorpade, Anil Bandange, Rizwan Mirajkar, Prakash Dhamdhere, and Nilesh Prakash Nikam. Moreover, these activists were found not working in the party for the last few years. City President Sainath Babar decreed, "On the orders of Bala Nandgaonkar, Anil Shidore, Babu Vagaskar, senior leaders of Maharashtra Navnirman Sena, all of them have been expelled from the Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) party for indulging in anti-party work."
