PUNE: An incident of leopard sighting took place in the Hinjewadi Infotech Park area that set off ripples of fear across the area. The fear then manifested into sheer terror amongst the local residents when the feline wandered into the courtyard of a farmer in Nere village near Hinjewadi IT Park in Pune and made a meal of his pet dog in the wee hours of Wednesday.  

According to the information provided by the Pune Forest Department, the pet belonged to a local farmer, Sambhaji Jadhav. As per the CCTV footage that went viral on the internet, the predator stealthily wandered into the compound of the farmer. Upon sighting its prey — Jadhav's sleeping dog — that was chained to a post in the verandah, it furtively stalked up to the sleeping dog, grabbed it by its nape and after a brief struggle between canine and feline predator, it dragged the dog away. 

To say that this incident has set off tidal waves of terror would be stating it mildly.
