Letter from MP Supriya Sule:

Letter from MP Supriya Sule: "The flyover coming up at Chandni Chowk should be named after Senapati Bapat!"

PUNE: MP Supriya Sule has demanded that the newly constructed flyover at Chandni Chowk should be named after Senapati Bapat, the hero of Mulshi Satyagraha.  She has sent a letter to the National Highway Authority of India (NHAI) and Pune Municipal Commissioner stating that Chandni Chowk is the gateway of Mulshi Taluka and the name of Senapati Bapat who has contributed very much to Mulshikars will be appropriate.

Mulshi Taluka has a great historical background. The great revolutionary freedom fighter Senapati Bapat organized the 'Mulshi Satyagraha' movement in Mulshi in 1921, which was the first major record of the struggle of farmers and sons of the soil.

Hundred years of this satyagraha have been completed recently. This is his great contribution to Mulshi Taluka. On this occasion, MP Sule said in her letter that the flyover bridge project at Chandni Chowk should be named as 'Senapati Bapat Flyover Bridge' in the memory of Senapati Bapat, the hero of this Satyagraha, through which everyone would remember his struggle by expressing gratitude to the freedom fighter Senapati Bapat.
