District Collector Dr. Rajesh Deshmukh institutes a committee to investigate the accidents in the vicinity of the Navale bridge and suggest preemptive measures

PUNE: It has come to light that District Collector Dr. Rajesh Deshmukh has instituted an inquiry committee to investigate the accident on Mumbai-Bangalore National Highway near Swami Narayan Temple. The District Collector has issued instructions that the inquiry committee, which will be spearheaded by Deputy Commissioner of Police (Transport), will suggest measures to curb the attrition rate of accidents taking place on the Mumbai-Bangalore National Highway. 


The District Collector Dr. Rajesh Deshmukh visited the injured victims at the Sassoon General Hospital and inquired about their condition.  


During this visit, Dr. Deshmukh issued instructions for proper treatment of the injured victims. After visiting the accident patients, Dr. Deshmukh stated that "through the Road Safety Committee, a review has been conducted regarding the accident taking place near Navale Bridge."


The 'Save Life Foundation' organization has been assigned the task of suggesting the causes of the accidents occurring here and the measures to prevent them accordingly.

 

Based on the report given by the said organization, many measures have been taken to install strips, remove encroachments on the road sides, put strips on both sides, increase police presence, and control the speed limit to name just a few.  


The National Highway Authority of India (NHAI) has also been informed about this and the administration is working toward finding permanent solutions to this ongoing menace.
