Fatal accident on expressway; Five people die on the spot

MUMBAI: On Thursday midnight, five people died in a horrific vehicular accident on the Mumbai-Pune Expressway. The car, which was heading towards Mumbai when the driver lost control of his car, swerved and crashed into a car in front of him. 


The terrible accident took place when the driver of the Ertica travelling towards Mumbai, lost control, swerved and crashed into another car in front of him. The driver and eight passengers travelling in the Ertica were headed from different places in Pune towards Mumbai.  


As the Ertica reached the Dheku village limits along the Mumbai-Pune Expressway, the driver suddenly lost control of his car and rear-ended it into a vehicle in front of him.  


The impact of the collision was so powerful that four passengers died on the spot. One woman sustained minor injuries and four others were rushed to MGM Hospital with grievous injuries. 


While filing this story, the report is just filtering in that another passenger has  succumbed to the injuries, while the driver and two others are undergoing treatment.


The accident took place at 11.40pm last evening. The IRB Patrolling, Dedoot System, Borghat Traffic Police, Khopoli Police, Delta Force, Lokmanya Hospital and members of social organizations swung into the relief action during this terrible incident.  


The deceased passengers have been identified as

Abdul Rehman Khan, (32), a resident of Ghatkopar, Anil Sunil Sanap, Wasim Sajid Kazi, resident of Rajapur, Ratnagiri, Rahul Kumar Pandey, (30), a resident of Navi Mumbai, Ashutosh Navnath Gandekar (23), Ashok Dharma Chal, a resident of Amboli, Andheri (W), Mumbai.


 The critically injured have been identified as the driver Machindra Ambore (38), Deepak Khairal, Ameerullah Chaudhary, while Asfia Rais Chaudhary (25), resident of Kurla, 

Mumbai sustained minor injuries.
