Special squads will keep tabs on vehicles jumping lanes on Mumbai-Pune Expressway

MUMBAI: Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis has issued instructions that a squad should be kept ready to keep tabs on jumping lanes on the Mumbai-Pune Expressway and vehicles violating rules should be chased and their drivers should be fined. 



A meeting was held at the Sahyadri guest house to discuss ways to improve road safety. Chief Minister Eknath Shinde attended the meeting. Violators of rules are fined but those who have been fined multiple times should be dealt with sternly and their driving licence should be suspended for a few days or months, Fadnavis said. 



There are 1,004 black spots in Maharashtra and 72 per cent accidents take place due to overspeeding. The percentage of accidents at the black spots is 53, an official informed during the meeting.
