Tendulkar, Gavaskar, Manjrekar to miss MCA election, their voter registration was not done in time

MUMBAI: The elections of the prestigious Mumbai Cricket Association are to be held on October 20. Wherein former Test cricketer Sandeep Patil will be hotly contesting against politico Amol Kale for the post of President during this election. 


However, during this face off, as many as 11 cricketers, including Sachin Tendulkar, Sunil Gavaskar, Sanjay Manjrekar, Vinod Kambli have been disqualified from voting. The reason behind their disqualification is because they are not registered as bonafide voters.


Apparently, all these above-mentioned cricketers have not yet registered themselves as voters before the election, and therefore, they are ineligible for this election as they do not possess voters ID cards, announced JS  Saharia, Election Officer  has announced.


Sandeep Patil, the candidate for the post of president of the Mumbai Cricket Association, had suggested that there should be an e-voting facility as many former cricketers are not in Mumbai.  However, the annual meeting of this organization did not approve it and so it could not be implemented.


Sunil Gavaskar, Sachin Tendulkar, Sanjay Manjrekar, Ajit Agarkar, Paras Mhambre, Avishkar Salvi, Vinod Kambli, Wasim Jaffer.  Club - Shahapur's Palanji Group Sports Club (Lalchand Rajput) School as well as College - Ismail Yusuf College (Pratiksha Phadnis) Sathe College Gymkhana (Bansidhar Dhurandar) are on the defaulters' list.
