Two children drown at sea near Koliwada, Worli

MUMBAI: Five children  were found drifting in the sea near Koliwada, 

Worli. The five children were fished out of the sea by local residents and taken to a private and KEM hospitals. Amongst them, an eight-year-old boy and a 12-year-old girl who were admitted at the Hinduja Hospital have died. While a 13-year-old girl was been admitted to the KEM Hospital in Paral and her condition is yet to be ascertained.


At Vikas Lane, Hanuman Mandir, Koliwada, Worli, the five children had gone for a swim in the sea around 3.30pm. All of the five children were caught in a strong undercurrent and swept away into the sea.  


On receiving information that the children were adrift, local residents rushed to their rescue and pulled them out of the sea before the Mumbai Fire Brigade arrived.  


When the local residents took the children to a nearby hospital in a private vehicle, two of the children identified as Karthik Chaudhary (8) and Savita Pal (12) died.
