Woman watches helplessly as son is crushed by truck

PUNE: In a tragic incident, a speeding truck rammed into a scooter leading to the death of a boy who was riding pillon with his mother. The incident took place in Pimpri-Chinchwad. The deceased has been identified as Atharva Alne (11). Atharva’s mother was taking him to the school on a scooter when it was hit by a four-wheeler. Atharva fell and came under the wheels of a truck. He succumbed to his injuries and his mother Harshada received minor injuries.

Atharva was studying in class 6 in Pratibha International School in Chinchwad. On Thursday at 7.10 am, Harshada was taking him to the school. A four-wheeler hit the scooter at Shahu Nagar corner near old RTO. Atharva came under the wheels of a truck and Harshada fell on the other side. The MIDC police have detained the drivers of the four-wheeler and the truck. The MIDC police are probing the incident.
