Pune metro to extend from Vanaz to Chandni chowk, Mahametro submits project report to PMC

PUNE: Maharashtra Metro Rail Corporation Limited (Mahametro) has recently submitted the project report regarding the metro extension between Vanaz and Chandni Chowk. The project report has been submitted to Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC), while the estimated cost of the project is ₹3,500 crores. 


Moreover, an underground metro between Swargate and Katraj will be comissioned. The proposal for the project which will be built at an estimated cost of ₹7,000 crores has been sent to the Maharashtra state government for approval.


About 6kms of the metro line between Range Hills and Swargate will run underground. The work of both the tunnels on this route is on-going rapidly. Rail tracks are being laid and a signal system will be soon installed on the line.


The underground metro will be operational once the Railway Safety Board approves it. Maha-Metro has clarified that the work of the subway metro line will be completed by the end of March 2023.
