Dhanraj Shirke of Velhe Taluka wins gold in First Grand Prix Wrestling Tournament

VELHE: The first Under 17 Grand Prix National Wrestling Tournament organized under the aegis of the Indian Wrestling Federation was held at Haridwar, Uttarakhand.  At the competition, a young wrestler from Wajeghar in Velhe Taluka, Pune, Dhanraj Bharat Shirke won the gold medal in the 45 Kg Freestyle Weight Category. Dhanraj has achieved victory over wrestlers from Chandigarh, Delhi, Haryana.

  

The young wrestler practices in Pune at the Jayanath Talim Dhankawadi with Corporator Balabhau Dhankawade and in Delhi with wrestler Mahabali Satpal's Chatrasal Akhara.

  

This is Dhanraj's fourth national medal. Due to this competition, he was selected for the Khelo India Competition to be held in Bhopal, Madhya Pradesh in January 2023.  His achievement has done the country proud.
