Store manager of Fossil India arrested for misappropriating ₹28 lakh

PUNE: An FIR has been registered against the store manager of Fossil India Private Limited for misappropriation of expensive goods and cash kept on the counter totally worth ₹28 lakh from the company’s showroom in Phoenix Mall.  The incident took place from October 2022 to December 15, 2022 at Phoenix Mall.



The arrested store manager has been identified as Francis Joseph David (35), a resident of Dapodi. Area Manager Prathamesh Achyut Paithankar (33), a resident of Navi Mumbai has lodged a complaint. According to the police, Paithankar works as Area Manager in Fossil India Private Limited. The company owns a showroom in Phoenix Mall. Francis David who works as store manager of the showroom took workers and senior company officials into confidence and gave them fake information from October 2022 to December 15, 2022.



David misappropriated 147 items including watches, jewellery, belt pouches worth ₹8.73 lakh. Instead of depositing ₹19.41 lakh received after the sale of goods, in the company’s account, he used it for his personal gains. Hence, he has cheated the company of ₹28.14 lakh, the complaint states. A complaint had been lodged with the police. Accordingly, a probe was carried out and an FIR was registered.
