ACB arrests court clerk red handed while accepting bribe of ₹1.5 lakh

PUNE: The ACB has arrested a senior clerk of the Shivajinagar Sessions Court for demanding a bribe of ₹2 lakh and accepting ₹1.5 lakh for offering help in a case being heard in the court and promising to get a favourable verdict from a judge. The clerk was arrested in front of a shop outside the court while he was accepting a bribe of ₹1.5 lakh on Thursday at 8.15 pm.



The accused has been identified as Sachin Ashok Dethe (39), a resident of Rajguru Nagar, Khed taluka. According to ACB, a 23-year-old youth had lodged a complaint. A case against a cousin of the complainant is going on in the court. Dethe had told the complainant that he will ensure that his cousin will be freed and he speak to the judge about it. On November 30, Dethe demanded a bribe of ₹2 lakh for doing the work. After the youth complained to the ACB, his complaint was verified. A trap was laid and Dethe was arrested red handed while accepting 

₹1.5 lakh. PI Jyoti Patil is probing the incident.
