Anti-Extortion Cell of the Crime Branch Mumbai Police arrests accused for extorting collegian from Vile Parle for ₹5lakh after filming the student and his girlfriend in a compromising position

MUMBAI: It has come to light that a colleguan from Vile Parle was filmed in a compromising position with his girlfriend, and an extortion of ₹5 lakh was demanded from him by an extortionist. The Anti-Extortion Cell (ANC) of the Crime Branch Pune Police has arrested one of the accused in this case.

The plaintiff youth, who lives in Vile Parle, is a Commerce undergraduate. He was  introduced to the accused eight months ago, while the second accused met the student, two years ago.

The accused was arrested two weeks after meeting the plaintiff at a compound on a back road in Andheri. During that meeting, he showed the plaintiff a video on his mobile of the plaintiff and his girlfriend at a hotel in a compromising position.

The terrified plaintiff broke down and begged the accused to delete the video, however, the accused refused. The accused then extorted the young collegian for ₹5 lakh. He allegedly threatened to make the video viral on social media if the ransom wasn't paid.

According to the plaintiff, a  second accused had entered the plaintiff's room under the pretext of charging his mobile phone. The complaint stated that the second accused had then downloaded an App on his mobile during that time and filmed a video of the young couple.

Initially, the terrified student agreed to pay ₹2.5 lakh, however, he agreed to pay the full sum of ₹5 lakh after the accused threatened him. Apparently, this time, the arrested accused also threatened to kill him if he complained to the police. The plaintiff was under terrible stress as the accused repeatedly contacted the plaintiff on WhatsApp and  demanded ₹5 lakh.

Fed up of the constant  online stalking, the frightened collegian finally filed a complaint with the Anti-Extortion Cell of the Crime Branch in this regard. Based on the complaint, an FIR was registered at the Oshiwara Police Station.

A team of the Crime Branch arrested the accused.
