Anti-Narcotics Cell arrests two for selling mephedrone through social media

PUNE: The Sinhagad Road Police has arrested two youths who were selling drugs such as Mephedrone and Charas through social media on Saturday. Approximately, ₹2.15 lakh  worth of inventory has been seized from the accused.


The arrested accused have been identified as Akash Mahendra Thakar (22), a resident of Sun City, Anand Nagar and Aniket Janardan Dhandekar (20), resident of Hingane Khurd.


The police revealed that the police officers and personnel of Squad 1 of the Anti-Narcotics Cell (ANC) were patrolling the road leading to Ram

Nagar from Bramha restaurant Chowk on the Sinhagad Road when they found accused Akash and Aniket selling mephedrone and charas in front of the Akhil Omkar Mitra Mandal near the Ganesh temple.  


The police detained both and searched the accused and seized mephedrone and hashish worth approximately ₹2.15lakh from them.  An FIR  has been registered against them at Sinhagad Road Police Station.


A team led by Senior Police Inspector Vinayak Gaikwad and Assistant Police Inspector Laxman Dhengle were a part of the takedown
