Bharati Vidyapeeth police arrests moneylender for threatening to kill teacher

PUNE: The Bharati Vidyapeeth police have arrested a private moneylender who demanded a ransom of ₹2 lakh by threatening to kill a teacher of a municipal school. The lender was troubling him even after he had returned the money with the interest. 



The arrested moneylender has been identified as Santosh Baburao Shinde (40), a resident of Somatane Phata, Shirgaon, Talegaon Dabhade. A 45-year-old teacher has lodged a complaint. The teacher’s son was sick in 2017. She had borrowed ₹1 lakh from the moneylender for her son’s treatment. She had repaid the loan with 10 per cent interest. However, he was pestering her to give extra amount of ₹2 lakh. He was threatening her that he will kill her if she did not give the money. The teacher who was fed up of Shinde’s constant demands, lodged the complaint with the police. Police Sub-Inspector Sonali Katle is investigating the case.
