Bhavani Peth Police arrests merchant for assaulting municipal sweeper

PUNE: The police arrested a merchant who brutally assaulted a cleaner of the Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC).  The incident took place at the Timber Market, ​ ​ Bhawani Peth.  


The arrested accused has been identified as one Raghu Singh Bal Singh Bhati (29), a resident of Bhawani Peth.  Santosh Jadhav (39), a resident of Ganj Peth has filed a complaint at the Khadak Police Station in this matter.


The police said Bhati owns a business  called Rajdeep Hardware Store at Timber Market, while Jadhav is a sweeper of that area.  Apparently, Jadhav was sweeping the road in front of Savitribai Phule Hall at Bhawani Peth.  

During the time of the sweeping, invoices of the Rajdeep Hardware Store were found in the garbage. Jadhav allegedly collected them and put the said invoices on the stoop of the Rajdeep Hardware Store. Purportedly enraged, Bhati abused Jadhav and accused him of stashing garbage on the stoop of his store and allegedly assaulted the sweeper. 



An FIR has been filed against him at the Bhavani Peth Police Station for assault and obstruction of government work Assistant Police Inspector Nitin Kumar Naik is further investigating this case.
