Excise Department confiscates over ten thousand bottles of foreign liquor brought from Goa

PUNE: The State Excise Department has confiscated around 10,000 liquor bottles brought from the village despite the ban on bringing liquor. They cost approximately ₹88 lakhs. The liquor was found in a truck, which was caught by State Excise Department officials after they laid a trap on the Pune-Mumbai Expressway.

A total of 1,267 boxes of foreign liquor were found, including 4,164 bottles of whiskey (750 ml), 5,760 sealed bottles (180 ml), and 9600 sealed bottles of Royal Blue Whiskey (750 ml).

Foreign liquor produced and sold in the state of Goa is not allowed in Maharashtra. Hence, the Pune Department of State Excise took this action. Divisional Commissioner of State Excise AB Chaskar, Superintendent of Pune Division CB Rajput, and Deputy Superintendent signed off on this plan. This action was taken on the basis of information received from a secret correspondent under the guidance of Yuvraj Shinde.

A truck carrying foreign liquor was stopped in Talegaon Dabhade town limits on the old Pune-Mumbai highway.

Driver Praveen Parameshwar Pawar (24) and Devidas Vikas Bhosale (20), both residents of Solapur, have been arrested.
