Police acts against Gajanan Marne gang by using provisions of Maharashtra Control of Organised Crime Act

PUNE: The police had filed an FIR against gangster Gajanan Marne and 13 others for demanding ₹20 crore and kidnapping a businessman and beating him up. On Tuesday, action has been taken against the accused under the stringent Maharashtra Control of Organised Crime Act (MCOCA). 



The accused against whom action under MCOCA has been taken include Sachin alias Papu Dattatray Gholap (43), a resident of Dhankawadi, Hemant alias Anna Balaji Patil (39), a resident of Palus taluka in Sangli district, Amar Shivaji Kirdat (46), a resident of Satara district, Gajanan alias Gaja alias Maharaj Pandharinath Marne, a resident of Shastri Nagar, Kothrud, Rupesh Krishnarao Marne, a resident of Kothrud, Santosh Shelar, a resident of Kothrud, Monika Ashook Pawar, a resident of Dapodi, Ajay Gole, a resident of Narhe, Nitin Pagare, a resident of Satara, Prasad Khadangle, a resident of Sahakar Nagar and Navghane. Four persons have been arrested. After this incident, Gaja Marne and others are absconding. 



An investigation by PI Balaji Pandhre of Anti-Extortion Cell has revealed that the gang has committed the crime to establish its supremacy in the area and also for financial gains.
