PUNE: An FIR has been registered against notorious gangster Gajanan Marne’s nephew Rupesh Marne and three others under the Maharashtra Money Lending (Regulation) Act for trying to extort ₹65 lakh from a builder even after he had repaid the borrowed money with interest. It has come to light the accused had taken control of the building having 12 flats.
The accused have been identified as Rupesh Krishnarao Marne (38), a resident of Navekta Colony, Kothrud, Umesh Prasad Vafgaonkar (42), a resident of Warje, Anil Ambadas Lolge (40), a resident of Solapur and Nitin Tukaram Nanavare (41), a resident of Bavdhan. Mayur Ramesh Gavli, a resident of Karve Nagar has lodged a complaint with the police.
Gavli is a builder and he has constructed Yashkirti building located near Rajarajm Bridge. He had borrowed ₹1.85 crore from Rupesh Marne and his aide. Gavli had returned ₹2.30 crore to Marne. However, Marne was demanding an extra
₹65 lakh and he was being threatened by taking control of his buildings. Gavli had lodged a complaint with the Anti-Extortion Cell.
The action was taken by PI Balaji Pandhre, Hemant Patil, Changdev Sajgane, Shrikant Chavan, Mohandas Jadhav, Vijay Gurav, Pradip Shitole, Shailesh Surve, Vinod Salunkhe, Rahul Uttarkar, Anil Megde, Pravin Kalbhor, Sangram Shingare, Sachin Ahivale, Sachin Gaikwad, Amol Pilane, Chetan Apte, Surendra Sable, Pavan Bhosale, Chetan Shirolkar, Pradip Gade and Asha Kolekar under the guidance of ACP Narayan Shirgaonkar.
