Pune Municipal Corporation takes action on rooftop restaurants with illegal encroachments

PUNE: The Anti-Encroachment Department has started a crackdown on those Restarateurs using more space than allowed for their restaurants. The Anti-Encroachment Department took action against S. A. Dosa Café and Little Delhi restaurant at Baner Balewadi, as well as Mughal Sarai in Brahma Angan on the Kondhwa Road and Silver Spoon restaurant in Central Mall in Kausar Baug, and removed the illegal constructions.


It has been revealed that thousands of square feet are being used illegally to construct rooftop restaurants. Taking action against these rooftop restaurants, the Pune Municipal Corporation  (PMC) demolished numerous constructions. The Silver Spoon restaurant  is operated from a rooftop by using metal sheets in lieu of an awning on the terrace of the Capital Building in Kausar Baugh. The 2,500 square foot structure was removed. Circa 2018, construction of 11,400 square feet was built at this restaurant. And now, in 2022, they have once again illegally constructed a rooftop restaurant.


The Mughal Sarai restaurant in Kondhwa Khurd also had unauthorized use of 12,600 square feet on the terrace. On July 20, 2022, action was taken on 12,600 sq. Action was taken today on the unauthorised construction of 2,500 square feet of the same hotel.


Municipal Superintendent Engineer Yuvraj Deshmukh, under the guidance of Executive Engineer Shrikant Vaidande and Deputy Engineer JB Pawar, the team of Junior Engineers Sangram Patil, Sandesh Kulmode, Suraj Shinde took action.
