Shikrapur Police nab moneylender who kidnapped his son-in-law and tried to extort ₹90 lakh from mother-in-law

PUNE: The Shikrapur police have arrested a moneylender who kidnapped his own son-in-law and demanded an extortion of ₹90 lakh from him and his mother-in-law to get their land transferred in his name despite repaying the money with interest.

The name of the arrested person is Sagar Saswade (40), a resident of Shikrapur. Sangeeta Ashru Phalke (47), a resident of Sanaswadi, filed a complaint in this case. Sangeeta had borrowed 10 lakhs from her mother-in-law with interest, after which she told her mother-in-law to transfer the papers for the land into her name, and once she returned the money, the mother-in-law would put the land back on her name.


After this incident, her son-in-law, Shreyas Pandit, was abducted, and he was also threatened. Sub-Inspector of Police Vaibhav Pawar is conducting further investigation.
