PUNE: A man, who has been separated for the past three years from his wife, stabbed her in the neck with a knife. The woman was seriously injured and is currently undergoing treatment at the Sassoon General Hospital, Pune and the accused has been arrested. 

The injured woman has been identified as one Yallapa Shivshankar Mense (30), a resident of Sainath Nagar, Vadgaon Sheri while the arrested accused has been identified as one Shivshankar Shawarappa Mense (35), a resident of Vadgaon Sheri and a native of North Solapur. 

According to information received,  Shivshankar and Yalappa have been separated for the past three years. Apparently, he stopped Yalappa near the vegetable market and allegedly stabbed her in the neck because he was suspicious of her character. 

Shivshankar was produced in the court, wherein the court ordered the accused to be remanded in police custody for three days.

Police Sub-Inspector Arvid Kumre is conducting a further in depth investigation.
