MUMBAI: A shocking incident has come to light wherein a 13-year-old schoolgirl was raped by her two minors classmates. The Matunga Police have detained the two minor boys studying in Class VIII.  

The incident took place on November 30, at a school in Matunga. An FIR has been registered in this case based on the complaint of the victim's sister-in-law.  

According to the police complaint, the incident took place on November 28. The victim, a Class VIII student, and had gone  for a dance recital practice. During that window of time, between 5pm and  5.30 pm, allegedly, the detained accused sexually assaulted her. They purportedly threatened her against telling anyone about this heinous crime. After which, the girl began refusing to go to school and started remaining silent. That's when her sister-in-law stepped in and took her into confidence and inquired what was the matter. The victim broke down and narrated the entire sordid incident. Once the victim came clean about the incident with her sister-in-law, on Tuesday, the latter lodged a complaint with the police. Recognizing the brevity of the matter, the police immediately swung into action and detained the minor accused. The Matunga Police have to registered an FIR under the Prevention of Sexual Atrocities (POSCO) Act.   

In the meanwhile, both the detained accused have been sent to the Juvenile Detention Centre.
